Bilateral Hip Replacement surgery in Avascular Necrosis of the Hip using Direct Anterior Approach
Avascular Necrosis is a common cause of arthritis of the hip joints in young individuals. It is seen commonly in patients taking Steroids, Oral contraceptive pills, in patients with Sickle cell disease and after fractures of the hip. In this condition , the blood supply to the ball of the hip joint is disrupted leading to flattening and irregularity of the hip joint.
If detected early , CORE DECOMPRESSION of the hip can be done to prevent arthritis, but once arthritis has developed hip replacement surgery is needed to restore function and relieve pain.
